India's Representation in Paris Key Facts You Should Know

Are you looking forward to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris?

In any case, I'm quite thrilled about the Olympics and I strongly believe that this will be the Indian contingent's best season. 

With competitions spanning from July 26 to August 11, the Paris Olympics of 2024 will include 117 Indian athletes competing for medals in the international multi-sport competition.





In the Paris, more over half of the Indian competitors will be competing in their first Olympics. Many of them competed in the summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2020 and in prior years.

Take an early look at the information on the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris:

1). 2020 saw the greatest contingent at the Tokyo Olympics, with 121 athletes competing. This year, India has the second-largest contingent at the Olympics, with 117 athletes competing.

Notably, the Indian women's hockey team was unable to secure a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

2).Up to 72 competitors, or we can say that 61% of the Indian contingent, will be competing in their first Olympics in Paris.

3).Indian athletes will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, with up to 70 men and 47 women.

4). This year, the largest group of 29 participants are among athletes. It includes two reserves of India. Shooting is the second largest group.

5).The maximum number of athletes will come from Haryana, making the state representation at the Paris Olympics 24 . Punjab follows closely with 19 athletes.

6).India will compete in 16 different sports at the Paris Olympics.

(iv)Athletics

(v)Boxing

(vi)Golf

(vii)Judo

(viii)Rowing

(ix) Shooting

(x)Swimming

(xi) Equestrian

(xii) Sailing

(xiii)Table Tennis

(xiv)Tennis

(xv) Weightlifting 

(xvi)Wrestling

7).There are five former medal lists from India in the contingent: 

(a).Neeraj Chopra

(b).PV Sindhu 

(c).Mirabai Chanu

(d).Lovlina Borgohain 

(e). Men's Hockey Team

8).Manu Bhaker and Parul Chaudhary, in particular, have multiple individual events scheduled for the Paris Olympics. Parul is not only competing in the 5000m but also the Women's 3000m Steeplechase.

Manu will compete in pistol shooting events lasting 25 meters as well as the women's mixed team 10 meters air pistol event.

9). Tanisha Crasto, an Indian shuttler, is the sole Olympian from 2024 to have been born outside of India. Dubai is where the badminton star was born.
